CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) TEACHER SUPPORT PROGRAM
In the world where education needs of nations are constantly evolving to meet their social and economic needs, it is necessary for teachers to stay up to date with innovations in teaching materials and pedagogy and gain necessary professional knowledge and most effective teaching skills.
To this effect STIAfrica has a comprehensive Continuous Professional Development program for teachers covering all subjects and many aspects of school life. The Core areas of our trainings are; Curriculum Interpretation, Curriculum Implementation, Curriculum Assessment and Evaluation which is done with UNEB Specialists.
STIAfrica also offers continued support for teachers after the trainings. This is through the Teacher Support Platform where teachers can call in, text or go on-line to get professional support from STIAfrica experts and consultants.
Being a successful teacher requires continual up skilling to keep up with industry changes. We do Continuous Professional Development for teachers covering all professional needs of a teacher with special emphasis on practical methodologies, creative and effective teaching as well as a “hands-on” learner centred approach that stimulates learners’ creativity, enhances understanding and skill development.
The training is conducted through workshops, continued in-service training, and seminars. During training, teachers are guided on how to use the available materials to engage students in the teaching and learning process. Together with NCDC and UNEB, STIAfrica retools and mentors teachers on the use of practical hands-on activities and projects in the teaching/learning of science.
The Teacher Support Platform (TSP)
STIAfrica has a support centre on which science teachers connect and freely interact with subject specialists. Teachers can go online, call or text for assistance in understanding teaching content, selecting effective teaching methodology, and how to carry out testing and evaluation at UNEB standard.
The TSP avails an opportunity for the teachers from rural and urban schools to interact for peer-to-peer support. Teachers can share challenges and solutions, experiences and skills in the different approaches of teaching science. This bridges the gap between teachers in urban and remote schools.
