The training was facilitated by John Muhangyi from the Luigi Giussani Foundation. The objective of the training was to empower these officers with knowledge and skills to guide parents and communities on their critical role in supporting children’s education and safety.

Key issues discussed included the Education Act and the Constitution of Uganda on the role of parents, child neglect, the first steps to learning, methods of teaching and learning, and the importance of honest conversations within families.
The three-hour interactive session emphasized that parents are the first educators of their children and play a vital role in shaping values, supporting learning, and ensuring child safety both at home and in school communities.
The training falls under Subcomponent 2.1 of the USEEP project, which focuses on the safety of children in schools and surrounding communities. STIA and LGF are implmenting this component.
Participants pledged to cascade the knowledge gained to parents and local communities in their areas of operation.
